Which style is your favorite?
We take a look at the five most important styles in sliding door wardrobes right now. Here you can read up and find your favorite!
Solveig Hildre is Garderobemekka’s own design expert. When asked about the most important trends for sliding door wardrobes right now, she highlights 5 key styles.

GARDEROBEMEKKA delivers and installs bespoke sliding door wardrobes in Greater Oslo and Trondheim, at the best price on the market.
New York loft
The New York loft style has become immensely popular in Norway, with its characteristic black profiles contrasting with mirrors or tempered glass. The style originated in factory buildings in New York that were converted into apartments, and is ideal for everything from room dividers and wall mirrors to sliding doors. If you want sharp contrasts, you can go for clear mirrors or glass; if you choose sooty mirrors or bronze mirrors, the style becomes a little softer. Solveig herself has been inspired by this style.
“A New York loft-style sliding door is a real eye-catcher and a jewel in the room! The exact proportions will depend on the dimensions of the room where you want to install the wardrobe. That’s why it’s a good idea to ask our experts for help and use the drawing program to see what sizes you can have on the panes of your sliding door wardrobe,” she advises.

The exclusive darker style
Dark sliding doors with black details are by far the best-selling style at Garderobemekka right now. Most people go for black glass, but other dark colors are also popular. These days, a highly sought-after newcomer has gone on sale: Matte, foiled fronts in solid black. These are incredibly stylish in combination with sooty mirrors. In combination with black matte profiles reminiscent of wrought iron, this gives an exclusive and stylish look.
“There is generally a great demand for black wardrobes. That’s why we recently launched black interiors and kicked off sales with a Black Days campaign,” says Solveig.

The white classic
Solveig Hildre describes the white style as very classic and discreet. White wardrobes have dominated the market for a long time, but have recently been overtaken in popularity by dark wardrobes. But if you want a bright, light and simple style where the wardrobe doesn’t stand out too much, white wardrobes are a good choice.
“We have white fronts in both glossy and matt glass, and most people choose to combine them with a clear mirror,” says Solveig.

The colorful style
At Garderobemekka, you can special order sliding doors in exactly the RAL color you want! After a long period of white and grey interiors, color is making a comeback in our homes. If you love color, you have the opportunity to create the wardrobe of your dreams in exactly the shade you like best. At the moment, not many people dare to do so, but Solveig predicts that demand will increase when more colored doors are added to the exhibitions.
“Choosing colors from a color chart can be a little scary, so we’re working on getting more options on display in stores. For now, most people prefer to use a clear mirror in the wardrobe to reflect the wall colors. This is also a great way to pick up the colors,” says Solveig.

Mirrors from floor to ceiling
Large mirrors are an important and growing interior trend. Clear mirrors and sooty mirrors are just as popular, while bronze mirrors are less in demand. Solveig nevertheless highlights them as a great option, especially if you have a lot of earthy tones in the rest of your interior. If the sliding door wardrobe is to be placed in a small room, such as a hallway, floor-to-ceiling mirrors are a great way to enlarge the room. However, most people choose to break it up with cross profiles on the doors, preferably 3 panes per door.
“It’s become very popular to have three panels, with the middle panel covering 60% of the surface and the top and bottom panels covering 20% each – no matter what style customers choose,” says Solveig Hildre.
