Short-run sliding doors – a sustainable choice
Garderobemekka’s sliding doors are manufactured in our own factories in Lørenskog and Trondheim. This makes our sliding doors short-haul, which is also our way of making production sustainable. The doors are customized according to the exact wishes of the customer. We can do this because we manufacture the sliding doors ourselves. In the event of a complaint, you as a customer also save time because the distances are small.

Glass and mirrors are measured and cut to size
It all starts with a description of the sliding doors being delivered to the workers in production. The right glass and mirrors are brought out, measured and cut to size. All glass and mirrors for our sliding door wardrobes are either toughened or come with safety film on the back so that damage is minimized if you should be so unfortunate as to break the glass or mirror in the sliding doors.
The glass is washed and a rubber strip is attached
The glass is then carefully washed before we apply a rubber strip along the entire glass or mirror. This rubber strip protects the glass/mirror inside the profiles.
Profiles are merged
As soon as the rubber strip is in place, the side profiles are fitted. We then join the top and bottom profiles together. Until now, all the profiles have had a protective film on them to ensure the best possible care until the last moment.
The sliding doors from Garderobemekka come with solid aluminum profiles. The thickness and strength of our profile is of the best quality provided by our supplier. This is one of the details that sets our sliding door wardrobes apart from other wardrobes on the market.
Mounting the wheels
Then the most important part of a sliding door is fitted: the wheels. Our sliding door wardrobes have castors with the strength that characterizes a solid supplier – no expense has been spared! The stability of the wheels is important.
A high-quality sliding door wardrobe should have doors that close softly and quietly, that never derail and that stay just as good year after year. That’s why we offer a 15-year warranty on the wheel system and derailment protection on all sliding doors. Install the door damper (Soft Close)
Soft Close ensures that the sliding doors close softly, quietly and securely – no slamming or risk of pinched little fingers. Soft Close can either be installed when you build the sliding door wardrobe or it can be retrofitted.
Finally, the transoms are attached
Some people want to have glazing bars on the doors, and they are attached at the very end. The surface is washed again, and a ready-made template is used to lay the glazing bars correctly. The glazing bars are glued with double-sided tape, so elegant that you’d never guess what holds them in place. We have two different sizes of all types of glazing bars. They look exactly the same in design and are available in 18 mm and 28 mm.
Glued-on or continuous glazing bars
Continuous glazing bars are used when you want different types of mirrors or glass on the same door. Glued-on glazing bars are only used as a decorative detail. The size of the glazing bars the customer chooses depends on how pronounced or less pronounced an expression the customer wants on the doors. Right now, 28 mm wide glazing bars are the most popular, giving a distinctive look. 18 mm wide glazing bars give a more minimalist look.
