Tips and trends for your bedroom wardrobe
The trend researchers are unanimous: A wave of color is now washing into the homes of thousands. How is this reflected in the bedrooms and how should we design the sliding doors on the bedroom wardrobe?
The bedroom wardrobe on its way into a darker trend
Tor Arne Moss Westlund is Regional Manager of Garderobemekka and knows a lot about both interior trends and people’s choices. And he is clear in his speech: “People now like darker, duller colors than before. Especially in bedrooms.
“It’s clear that people want to decorate softer and warmer than before. Many want to make the bedroom a warm and safe nest. White is still the standard, but many customers are keen on muted and rustic. For sliding door wardrobes, they’re still choosing neutral colors, but we’re moving towards a darker trend,” says Westlund.

GARDEROBEMEKKA delivers and installs bespoke sliding door wardrobes in Greater Oslo and Trondheim, at the best price on the market.
2000 colors
At Garderobemekka, you can get sliding doors in exactly the color you want – with more than 2,000 RAL colors, there’s plenty to choose from. Nevertheless, there is little demand for colored fronts. The wardrobe has a long lifespan, so people choose to color their walls instead. But a clear trend on the sliding door front is the demand for black profiles.
“The demand for black profiles has exploded over the past five years,” says Tor Arne Westlund. “We never used to sell sooty mirrors and dark transoms to the ladies, but in recent years there has been a wave of interest in the New York loft style. And it’s still very much in vogue.”

Design that elevates the room
The sliding doors can be divided into different sections and designed according to the customer’s wishes. The regional manager is keen to find out what the individual customer wants, what they like and how the room in question looks. There is a wide range of options, and how you place cross profiles and different panels affects the atmosphere in the room.
“In low-ceilinged rooms, you have to be careful with transverse profiles, and you should place different panels so that the eye is drawn upwards. That way you can improve the sense of space. And when it comes to mirrors in the bedroom, it makes a lot of sense to choose sooty or bronze-colored mirrors – or no mirrors at all. Because mirrors bring in the light and amplify it. The trend is for darker mirrors in the bedroom, and that’s a good choice,” says Tor Arne Moss Westlund.
