How much does a sliding door wardrobe cost?
Some people prefer a wardrobe at the best possible price, while others place a higher value on design, materials, functions and the overall look of the room. So how much does a sliding door wardrobe cost?
The price of a new sliding door wardrobe depends on several things. The choice of design and materials, the size of the wardrobe, customizations and what you want to do yourself all influence the budget. We give you an overview of what matters most for the price of your sliding door wardrobe.

GARDEROBEMEKKA delivers and installs bespoke sliding door wardrobes in Oslo, Bærum & Asker, Lørenskog, Fredrikstad, Forus and Trondheim, at the best price on the market.
Determine your budget
The price of a new sliding door wardrobe depends on how big it is and which solutions you choose.
Before you start designing your wardrobe, it’s a good idea to decide on a budget, so we can help you find good solutions within your limits. You’ll find sliding door wardrobes at both ends of the price scale – and everywhere in between.
There are a few basic things that determine the price of your sliding door wardrobe:
- The size of the wardrobe
- Materials and qualities
- Interior design
- Installation
What do you like?
You may already have a clear picture of what your new sliding door wardrobe should look like. But if in doubt, start by finding inspiration – use Google, Instagram or Pinterest to see images of design solutions. Take a look at our image gallery and reference pages, or visit one of our stores for more inspiration. Start with the style you have, or want to create, and bring your ideas, photos, swatches or thoughts to the store, and we’ll help you define and draw your wishes. Size
Naturally, the size of your new wardrobe has a lot to do with the price. It’s simply about how many elements you need to build the wardrobe. To calculate this, it’s important to take exact measurements of the room the wardrobe will be placed in. You can get expert help with this from our wardrobe specialists, or you can read the instructions on how to take the right measurements and do the job yourself.
Materials and design
The difference is of course in the choice of materials, level of detail and processing, but also in the options available. Different materials have different prices. This applies, for example, to sliding door fronts and interior design solutions,” says Nina Bakke, Sales Consultant at Garderobemekka.
– When it comes to sliding doors, you can divide them both vertically and horizontally with continuous glazing bars, and you can choose different materials in the various panels – this costs a little more. If you only want to break up a surface, you can choose glued-on glazing bars as a cheaper alternative.
You can influence the price of your sliding door wardrobe through your choice of materials and design. – “The most affordable sliding door combination we have at the moment is a clear mirror with a silver profile,” says Nina.

Interior design – The interior also counts
When you first invest in a new wardrobe, you should think carefully about how you use it. Not only is it important to decide on the design, you should also think about how you’re going to furnish it so that you can fit everything in and make everyday life as easy as possible.
This is particularly important if you are building a small wardrobe or a very large wardrobe. If you’re building a small wardrobe, you need to make maximum use of the space, preferably in terms of height; if you’re building a large wardrobe, it’s a good idea to divide it into zones.
Garderobemekka supplies three different qualities of fittings:
- The bespoke furnishings that are tailored to you down to the millimeter – a good investment that will last for many years.
- Modular shelving is a high-quality modular storage system based on racks in different widths and variants.
- If you’re on a tight budget, you can find smart storage solutions with our ready-made interior packages, without breaking the bank.
Take a look at your current wardrobe solution – what elements do you like and what would you like to improve? Do you want to expand your wardrobe? Do you need more space for long clothes, or more drawers? More space for seasonal storage? Do several people share a wardrobe? Think about what needs and functions you want, who will be using the wardrobe and how much storage space is needed.
If you want the best quality, but want to keep your budget in check, Nina advises that it is possible to build on the solution. “Start with a section that contains 2-3 baskets and a hanger, then you can buy more items as you go along. Once you’ve got the “core”, it’s no problem to add drawers, baskets and shelves if you don’t have the budget for everything you want straight away.”

Installation
You decide how the wardrobe will be installed and delivered: collect it yourself or have it delivered to your home, install it yourself or outsource the job to experienced installers. That way, you can influence the price of your sliding door wardrobe.
Of course, the more of the work you can do yourself, the cheaper it will be. But professional installation can be a particularly good idea if there are a lot of adjustments needed, such as crooked angles, uneven floors, exposed pipes – or other conditions that can make installing the elements difficult. Our installers are accustomed to solving such challenges, so the cost of installation can be well worth it.
