Tips and trends for your hallway wardrobe
More and more people are choosing to make the most of their hallway space by installing a sliding door wardrobe. We take a look at the trends for hallway wardrobes and pick up some great tips along the way.
More important to think practical than cozy
In most houses and apartments, the hallway is a small but important room. In the hallway, we get ready to meet the world and welcome guests. Here, we need to have our outerwear and shoes easily accessible, and most importantly, we want to get an overview of ourselves before we go out. This places great demands on functionality and efficiency. We’ve asked Tor Arne Moss Westlund, Regional Manager at Garderobemekka, for some good advice.
“First things first: The hallway is a room where you don’t spend a lot of time, so it’s more important to think practical than cozy. A sliding door wardrobe with a mirror in the hallway is both functional and space-saving. There’s room for all your outerwear, and the mirror both enlarges the room and shows you how you look. Sooty mirrors are all the rage, but in the hallway I’d choose clear glass, which makes the hallway brighter,” explains Westlund.

GARDEROBEMEKKA delivers and installs bespoke sliding door wardrobes in Greater Oslo, Fredrikstad and Trondheim, at the best price on the market.
Lighter tones in small rooms
The regional manager sees clear signs that color trends in Norwegian homes are on the move. Now it’s warm, natural colors and brighter color choices that apply, and especially the younger guard is eager to throw themselves on the color trend. Tor Arne Westlund recommends that customers take the size of the hallway into account.
“Colors are great, but I would recommend the lighter tones of the rustic colors in a small hallway. At the same time, it’s both important and trendy to choose according to your own taste. After all, the hallway is the face of the house, sending signals about who we are and what we like.”

Clean lines
When it comes to dividing the sliding doors, Westlund sees a change in people. “Where there used to be more fragmentation into small sections, people now seem to be interested in clean lines. More people now choose to have mirrors all the way down to the floor and fewer combinations of colors and patterns. Another clear trend is the New York look with black profiles and equally large panels.
“The options are endless, and with us you get exactly the color and division you want. And if you need guidance, you’ll get the best advice from our experts, both in terms of colors and divisions,” concludes Tor Arne Moss Westlund.
