3 stores in 4 months

It has only been a few months since Garderobemekka launched in Greater Oslo. But the employees across the three stores have many decades of combined experience in the industry.

Garderobemekka i Stor-Oslo består av hele 3 ulike butikker. Den aller første av butikkene ble åpnet 1. juni og ligger på Lørenskog. Butikk nummer to åpnet 10. august og ligger i Bærum, mens butikken på Alnabru i Oslo er den største og ble åpnet 15. oktober. Tor Arne Moss Westlund er sjef for dem alle tre, og han skryter like mye av alle butikkene sine.

“All the stores should cover every customer need. You should get an equally good impression of the range everywhere, and in all three stores you meet highly experienced people. But the largest store, Alna, naturally has the widest selection of fronts and colour combinations. Here you will also find a large exhibition of products in the popular New York loft style,” says Westlund.

Relationships, trust and expertise

When the first Garderobemekka store opened in Lorenskog, Tor Arne Moss Westlund was the only employee in the store. He admits it was an intense period and is very happy that more people have joined the team.

“There are now two employees in Lorenskog, two in Baerum and three in the large Alna store. Our employees have between 9 and 19 years of experience in the wardrobe industry, so you meet a lot of expertise here. It has been a fantastic six months in our stores, and we already see that we need another three or four employees.”

Tor Arne Moss Westlund has worked with customers and sales throughout his career and is passionate about seeing customers and following them up. Even when the store is busy, customers should always be welcomed straight away.

“Sales are about relationships. Every customer matters, and we want everyone to have a good experience with us. We offer trust and professional expertise, and we focus on understanding each customer’s needs and wishes. Good follow-up is important, and the customer should have a clear timeline.”

Eventyrlig oppstart

Westlund has little doubt that there was a real need for a new player in the wardrobe market in spring 2020. Norwegians renovate a lot, and during the coronavirus year of 2020 people invested in their homes instead of leisure travel.
