It’s only been a few months since Garderobemekka saw the light of day in Greater Oslo. But the employees in the three stores have decades of experience in the industry between them.
Garderobemekka in Greater Oslo consists of three different stores. The very first of the stores opened on June 1 and is located in Lørenskog. Store number two opened on August 10 and is located in Bærum, while the store at Alnabru in Oslo is the largest and opened on October 15. Tor Arne Moss Westlund is the manager of all three, and he is equally proud of all his stores.
“All the stores should cover all customer needs. You should get the same good impression of the range everywhere, and in all three stores you will meet very experienced people. But the largest store, Alna, naturally has the widest range of fronts and color combinations. And here you’ll also find a large display of products in the popular New York loft style,” says Westlund.
Relationships, security and expertise
When the first Garderobemekka store opened in Lørenskog, Tor Arne Moss Westlund was the only employee in the store. He admits that it was a fairly sweaty period, and he is delighted to have had more people join the team over time.
“We now have two employees in Lørenskog, two in Bærum and three in the large store in Alna. Our employees have between 9 and 19 years of experience from the wardrobe industry, so you’ll find a lot of expertise here! It’s been an absolutely fantastic six months in our stores, and we can already see that we need 3-4 more employees.”
Tor Arne Moss Westlund has worked with customers and sales all his professional life, and is passionate about seeing customers and following them up. Even if it’s busy in the store, customers should always be greeted with a “welcome” right away.
“Sales is about relationships. A customer is a customer no matter what, and we want everyone to have a good experience with us. We offer peace of mind and expertise, and are keen to uncover customers’ needs and wishes. And good follow-up is important, the customer should be given a time horizon to relate to.”

Adventurous start-up
Westlund has little doubt that there was a great need for a new player in the wardrobe market in spring 2020. “Norwegians are a decorating people, and in the corona year 2020, people invested in their homes instead of leisure travel.
“I’m very sorry about the pandemic. But it’s been a fantastic six months in the interior design industry. And Garderobemekka has had a fabulous reception, with huge demand from day one,” says Tor Arne Moss Westlund.
