New York loft – turn your wardrobe into an eye-catcher
Do you want to give your interior a touch of the big world? New York loft-style glass walls with black profiles have become a big trend, and a sliding door is an affordable way for you to bring the style into your home.
New York loft is an industrial and slightly rough style that fits well into both modern and more classic houses. As the name suggests, it originates from older industrial buildings in New York that were converted into rough apartments, often with rustic brick walls, distinctive beams and the iconic glass walls with black profiles. Wardrobe Mecca’s own style expert, Solveig Hildre, has this style as a personal favorite and understands why it has become so popular.
“A glass wall in this style is a jewel in the room! The original wrought iron version is stylish and expensive, but with sliding doors you get the same look on a budget,” she says.

Let the room determine the proportions
In this style, you can combine the black aluminum profiles with clear, sooty or bronze-colored mirrors. If you don’t want a mirror, white tempered glass is a stylish alternative, for example in a bedroom where you want to avoid reflecting too much light. When it comes to dividing the panels, Solveig has clear advice.
“It’s best to let the room determine the proportions of the sliding doors. For example, if the room is lower and wider than what you have in your inspiration picture, the expression will not be the same. Get in touch with us for a drawing lesson, either in-store or digitally,” recommends Solveig.
This is because the height and width of the room are crucial to the size of the panes, and thus to the expression of the glass wall. With the right measurements in the drawing programs, you can see what it will actually look like in your room. If the ceiling height is low, you can also deceive the eye by dividing the room with vertical glazing bars and stretching the ceiling height visually. The professionals at Garderobemekka can help you with this. They can also advise you on other things to consider, such as lighting and types of mirrors in different rooms.

Black decor complements the style
If you want a uniform style from top to bottom, you now also have the option of ordering black interiors. This is a highly sought-after newcomer. The interior is completely black and matches the slightly rough black profiles perfectly.
“Our black profiles have a matt finish reminiscent of wrought iron. Together with other black details, they create a coherent and stylish expression,” concludes Solveig Hildre.
