Meet the product nerd and super seller
Garderobemekka in Trondheim is the newest of Garderobemekka’s stores, and the only one outside the Eastern Norway area. Here we meet two employees with solid expertise in wardrobes, craftsmanship, style and sales.
The last of Garderobemekka’s stores, which opened on November 12, 2020, is centrally located at Lade arena in Trondheim. The store has existed for a relatively short time, but department manager Ingulf Romundstad emphasizes that both employees have a very solid background in the wardrobe industry.
“We both had a lot of experience in the Garderobemannen system, and we were quickly picked up when Garderobemekka wanted to establish itself here. I myself started Garderobemannen in Trondheim in 2010, and I also have a craftsman’s background. My colleague is Norway’s most skilled wardrobe salesman,” smiles Ingulf Romundstad.
Garderobemekka AS was established in May 2020 by Glassmester1 AS, which has been supplying sliding doors with mirrors and glass for over 40 years. We have solid owners, and also offer deferred payment as an extra security for our customers. You can read more about Garderobemekka here.
Professional expertise and local patriotism
So far, there are only two employees at Garderobemekka Trondheim, which means that the two of them take care of absolutely every part of the ordering process. Customer contact, sales, organizing shipping and warehousing – Ingulf Romundstad and Hans Petter Ingebrigtsen take care of everything. In other words, managing the only Garderobemekka department outside Eastern Norway is no office job. It helps to be passionate about the wardrobe business.
“Hans Petter is an old and experienced hard worker and a focused super seller who has found his niche in the wardrobe industry. And I, as a craftsman by trade, am a real product nerd. I can honestly say that Garderobemekka has taken door product quality to a whole new level. We deliver the best door product at the lowest price, and our basket systems are supplied by a Norwegian quality manufacturer.”
Like most people from Trøndelag, Romundstad is patriotic, and he proudly talks about the basket systems from Norscan in Verdal, a local manufacturer that delivers solid, good craftsmanship. Romundstad is also very pleased that the sliding doors are short-haul.
“A short route from manufacturer to customer is a major advantage, both in terms of production and complaints. All our sliding doors are manufactured in Lørenskog, which is a strong security factor for all parties,” says Romundstad.
Welcome new player
The products that have attracted the most people from Trøndelag to the counter so far are sliding doors with sooty mirrors and the New York loft style. Customers cover a large geographical area, from Levanger in the north to Frøya in the west and Selbu in the south. The website of Garderobemekka Trondheim has been very well visited, and although people in Trondheim are known to be a little slow on the uptake, sales have been good so far.
“Our opening sales far exceeded our expectations, we had already exceeded our own production capacity in November. So there’s no doubt that Garderobemekka is a welcome player in the Trøndelag market,” says Ingulf Romundstad.
