A tall, dark and stylish wardrobe with lots of space

In Trude Jenssen Hammernes’ brand new house in Trondheim, a tall, dark and stylish sliding door wardrobe makes a good first impression. At the same time, it holds everything the family of three needs in the hallway – from sandals and sunglasses to ski boots and park suits.

When Trude and her husband were building a new house, a spacious hallway with a proper wardrobe was a top priority. A family of five means a lot of clothes and shoes, and if the space is small, there’s a lot of organization and logistics. That’s why the new house was given a hallway of 18 m2 – with extra headroom.

“Before we came here, we lived in a fairly new prefabricated house. New houses often have surprisingly little storage space, and we had to store clothes for other seasons on the second floor. We were fed up with that, so a large hallway with lots of wardrobe space was at the top of our wish list. The hallway is also the first impression of the house, so it was important that it was stylish,” says Trude Hammernes.

Good advice

So it was fitting that Garderobemekka’s newly opened store in Trondheim had campaign offers, and that the professionals could offer good advice on the practical and aesthetic aspects.

“Sales consultant Hans Petter Ingebrigtsen came for an inspection, and he immediately understood what we wanted,” says Hammernes.

In the new house, the style is consistent, with beige walls and black details everywhere. Trude and her husband knew that they wanted sliding doors with black matte profiles and sooty mirrors, and Hans Petter understood the design immediately. He also provided input that improved the couple’s plans.

“We had originally only planned to use black frames all around, but the seller was clear that black profiles in the doors would work better with the overall look of the house. And he was absolutely right about that! He also advised on the placement of the profiles in relation to the dimensions of the room, so we didn’t have to have the profiles in our faces when we looked in the mirror,” smiles Trude.

Ready for more wardrobes

Trude and her husband designed and built the new house themselves, and they are very conscious of both practicality and aesthetics. They installed the new wardrobe themselves, in what they describe as a very simple process.
