A service-minded people person
For sales consultant Anita Moss Westlund, all customers are equally important. It shows in the service – and in the feedback from customers.

GARDEROBEMEKKA delivers and installs bespoke sliding door wardrobes in Greater Oslo, Fredrikstad and Trondheim, at the best price on the market.
You have to be a bit of a people person to succeed as a salesperson,” says Anita Moss Westlund.
Anita is a sales consultant at Garderobemekka Lørenskog, and she gets a standing ovation for good service from satisfied customers. She has no fixed recipe for how she meets customers, except that everyone should be treated equally, regardless of the size of their wallet.
– “The meeting with the customer is a work in progress, you have to be open to what comes up,” she says. “But it’s important that the customer feels comfortable, as we get close to people’s private lives.

People need an overview
According to Anita, sales and psychology are two sides of the same coin. She enjoys working with people, and she has realized something very important: People need an overview and time perspective in the buying process. She meets this need with a simple but highly effective procedure.
– Once all measurements and payments are in order, I send the customer an order confirmation. This gives them an overview of exactly what they’ve ordered, how much it costs and when they can expect the item. And then I write that “now it’s 4-6 weeks until you hear from us again”. That’s why I get very few calls back, because people know what to expect,” explains Anita.
At Garderobemekka, the procedures are designed so that the same person accompanies the customer throughout the entire purchase process, from A to Z. Moss Westlund thinks this is a great advantage, both for the customer and the seller.
– For the customer, it provides security and an overview to be followed by one salesperson all the way. And for the salesperson, it’s very neat and tidy. I get a sense of ownership of my customers, and I like to follow them all the way to the finish line. Taking over someone else’s customer in the middle of a process is difficult,” says Anita.

Training along the way
The customers she helps have very different levels of knowledge about changing rooms. She often does a bit of training and teaching along the way, explaining what is possible, what is practical and what is expensive. Moss Westlund notices a big difference between the generations when they go shopping for wardrobes.
– Younger people often just want to shop online and get quick quotes from several suppliers. What they don’t realize is that it’s not necessarily the same item you get a price for. Garderobemekka doesn’t have any cheap solutions of poor quality, so we won’t win a price war by compromising on quality. I invite customers into the store so they can see and feel the quality,” explains Anita.
The mature buyers, on the other hand, have often bought wardrobes before and know what they want. The “adult generation”, as Anita calls them, prefers to come to the store and they enter the buying process with a different attitude.

An experienced wardrobe seller’s best tips
Regardless of the type of customer: Anita Moss Westlund thrives as a sales consultant. She has 12 years’ experience in the wardrobe industry as everything from store manager to salesperson. Being on the front line and following customers through the entire process suits her very well, and she has all the tips she needs to help you on your wardrobe hunt:
- Think about where your wardrobe should be! The wardrobe in the hallway is a good idea, as it’s visible to everyone who visits. In the bedroom, on the other hand, you can choose a simpler version, which is primarily for you to see.
- Do you have special wishes for how the doors should look? At Garderobemekka you can design your own fronts!
- Decide on the look of the fronts first, then customize the fittings. It’s a mistake to buy ready-made fittings first, as this can cause problems with door overlaps.
- Take a trip to the store! It pays to touch and feel the qualities and see the options in real life.
- Take a look at the full range of fittings before you decide. Garderobemekka has flexible wardrobe solutions in two different depths and two different colors, which means that most people can find something that fits.
